Karl Lagerfeld Paints A Regal Portrait


hot-rcn-chanel-1Chanel is unveiling its Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 Métiers d’art collection this very day in Salzburg, and to make this more of an event than it already is, Karl Lagerfeld himself has created and directed a short film to go with it. Titled Reincarnation, this clip is again evidence of Lagerfeld’s ripe imagination and growing cinematic finesse, as he directs a star-studded cast made of Pharrell Williams, Cara Delevingne and Geraldine Chaplin. The effect is nothing short of regal and elegant, and not without a playful, cheeky wink.


In reimagining an episode from the life of Gabrielle Chanel, Lagerfeld brings to life a 1950s Salzburg hotel, complete with Franz Xaver Winterhalter portraits abd gemütlich-style hunting lodge furnishings that perfectly evoke the tone and tenor of the era of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
